Well, it used to be working when I used the regular subdomain under blogspot.com. Many bloggers have reported this issue to Google but yet no acceptable answers from them. However there is a way to patch this issue.
Let's have a look how to re-produce this error.
1. Login to your Blogger Dashboard (www.blogger.com)
2. Go to Stats --> Overview of your blog
3. Click the "Don't track your own pageviews" link
4. A blue window should appear like image below and the loading icon keeps spinning
5. A while later, an error message "There was an error while fetching stats. Please reload page." prompted.
6. If you reload the page, try again, and the above message will appear again.
So, if this is the issue, how can I make my own blogger site stop tracking my computer?
1. Open a new tab on your browser while you're still logged in
2. Copy the text below and paste it on the address bar of the new tab
www.yourdomain.com/b/statsBlockingCookie?action=SET&callback=__gwt_jsonp__.P2.onSuccess
3. Replace "yourdomain.com" to your domain name
4. Press "Enter" and a response should be shown like below
// API callback5. Go to your home page and keep reloading the page. You will find that the pageviews counter stop incrementing (the counter is either on your home page or the dashboard).
__gwt_jsonp__.P2.onSuccess({"status":"yes"});
Important Note
1. This method does not fix the fundamental problem of the link
2. You need to do it on every browser of your computer
3. If you have other authors to access the blog, they have to do the same process
Thanks so much for spelling the steps out so clearly and ACTUALLY fixing my problem.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. I am glad this article could help you out. Thanks for your feedback.
Elvis
Followed the instructions but the fix did not work for me? :(
ReplyDeleteHi, Sandra,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried to reload your blog and see the result of the counter? It seems working to me?
Elvis
Is this working for the homepage only, or are the post pages not counting too?
ReplyDeleteThanks Elvis. That worked for me! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Dude! :D It has worked! Not only on the home page, but also on post pages and static pages! :)
ReplyDeleteThank u very much. It's working for me. But I want to know that whether it will affect my other json scripts in the website or not?
ReplyDeleteIt should work on any pages...
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome...
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome and glad it turn out well for you...
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, it shouldn't affect your json.
ReplyDeleteThis worked! Thank you!!
ReplyDelete-Josephina
Can you explain how this works?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Josephina
Thanks for helping us blogophytes fix this annoying problem!
ReplyDeleteThanks dear.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Before this I was literally subtracting my page counts from the overall estimate. I got a question, How do you create a "Mod" ribbon right next to your name ?
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. What do you mean by "Mod"?
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Doug.
ReplyDeleteI have custom pages not found too. It does not track pages count on my browser even I hit the pages not found page. The concept of this method is to set the cookie on your browser to stop tracking pages counts of your blog with private domain name. It does not fix the issue of Blogger's interface.
ReplyDeleteYour mod ribbon right next to your name, haha I am just curious, I've been trying to implement that concept into my website, But I haven't been able to find a way of doing it.
ReplyDeletewell, you may need to create your own template on Blogger and then you can do pretty much any thing you want on the site. Can you show us your website?
ReplyDeleteSure thing http://www.gamingscholar.com
ReplyDeleteWell done ...this actually works ..hope this will keep working even after I restart the browser
ReplyDeletethank you. thank you. thank you. ive been on a search for so long and finally found something that FIXED the problem. appreciate you!
ReplyDeletethank you have solved my problem very helpful
ReplyDeleteThis didn't work.
ReplyDeleteThe counter is still updating whenever I visit.
My blog- http://shivamconan.blogspot.in/
Hi Elvis,
ReplyDeleteThis hack really works. Now Blogger doesn't track my pageviews anymore. Very useful in analyzing incoming traffics other than my own. Thanks very much!
This was amazing!! Thank you so much!!!...xx
ReplyDeleteThat was an easy enough fix - thank you for sharing. The "don't count your own pageviews" option worked on my .blogspot.com blogs, but not my blog with its own domain. This did the trick.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's super cool. Big thanks
ReplyDeleteOne question does analytic counts my visit or not?
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot... really helpful
ReplyDeletethank a load...
ReplyDeletei dont have my own domain. will this work?
ReplyDeletesydsense.blogspot.com
It works
ReplyDeleteThanks
Thanks a lot, this seems to have worked!
ReplyDeleteI wondered if you could tell me how to reverse this feature in case I ever need to or want to?
Thanks again.
thanks for fixing my problem, work perfect on my website. but this problem came back when i clear my computer with ccleaner. lol! but thanks for this fix
ReplyDeletewww.apkita.com
It didn't work for me and Google Adsense didn't accept me because of this..
ReplyDeleteThats because this URL makes changes in the cookies, and ccleaner deleted all your cookies stored on your computer..
ReplyDeletewww.copluck.net
If you delete cookies stored on ur computer, your blog will start tracking you again, so try to delete the particular cookies associated with this URL, and it would be reversed...
ReplyDeletewww.copluck.net
thanks it works! do i have to do this on my phone too?
ReplyDeleteIf you do it via browser, yes, you have to :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to bother, but what should I do if the page says error page cannot be found?
ReplyDeleteHey Elvis, it didnt work for me. I can still see my page-view count increasing.
ReplyDeletei tried it but the page view is still increasing.. its so annoying :( its in fact increasing as 2 times per opening lol how can i stop that?
ReplyDeletePlease help me at least how to undo that now its increasing double! :(((
ReplyDeleteDoes not work.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, It didn't work in my case. Any other ideas?
